update

With a total of $2277.83 I only need to raise roughly $225 dollars more! Thank you everyone who donated! and for supporting me! I have landed a program and project, both of which have taken me on a extremely strange route... It was not what i expected.. but i think its BETTER :p
I will be going through a VERY small program called World of Volunteering, and will be living with my old host family for 5 weeks. I wanted to work in renovation, but i saw this project and i had a reaction to it that caused me to believe it was meant to be? I will be working at Jesus mi Luz. Jesus mi luz is an orphanage for approximately 50 boys from the ages 6-15. In fact, all the boys do have parents but have been abandoned or victim of domestic violence and sexual abuse. All the boys stay at the orphanage because of an indication of a family judge. In the orphanage, the boys get immediate psychological, medical and educational help. They stay there, however, only for a limited period of time, which is not longer than two years. After that, they either return to their families or the orphanage tries to find a new family for them. If this is not possible, they are transferred to other orphanages in Cusco that have a “family-approach”, which means that a substitute mother in another orphanage is going to take care of the children. success

the bake sale was a success! Thank you to those who came to support me :) the Ladies Axillary and I raised $187.91! Plus... Donations are slowly arriving :) I now only have $500 dollars to raise to return for sure!!! yay! Here's the Story

This past summer, summer of 2011 I went on an adventure that has changed my life forever. I traveled to Cuzco, Peru and worked with a group of young women in an orphanage. During my trip, my host family, the community, other volunteers and the little girls at my project showed me that in life, if someone wants to make a difference they have to create a dream or goal, and be a leader to accomplish it. They slowly showed me my dream as it flowed out of our time together. Mercedes, a little girl at the orphanage walked up to me with a candy in her hand on my first day, “Este dulce es para ti” (this candy is for you) she said. At this moment, she had offered me the only piece of candy she might see in weeks, and it warmed my heart. This experience alone sparked a fire in my soul. Thanks to Mercedes, I hope to return to Peru after college. Now, my new academic goal is to graduate with a degree in Business. After accomplishing this, I can officially return to Peru, as well as open a business that will give back and help the community, including the orphanage and others like Mercedes that I worked with. The business will incorporate all my passions, music, dance and food. A business that illustrates these passions is a restaurant. My restaurant will have a smooth salsa environment, it will be welcoming to all people and cultures, and will build cultural bridges(my biggest goal, BUILD CULTURAL BRIDGES). My restaurant and I will respect the workers and earn profits that can be donated to the community. I am determined to accomplish this goal. I will be able to strive toward the completion of my life vision. As well as help the people in my life grow and fulfill their dreams. Until then, I would like to continue helping the community in which I lived in. I ask for your support and help, to help me help Peru. My goal is to return to Peru this summer (2012), and work with a volunteer program. There are two projects that I have been looking at, the childcare project and the construction and renovation project. Both projects are extremely important to this community. I understand that times are rough, and money is tight...however, I ask you to please help me, by donating just a few dollars, or even $10 dollars would help me accomplish this goal, and help me to return to Peru and help the community(I am also fundraising through tupperware..). I have to raise at least $2,500 dollars that will go towards:

-buy a round-trip ticket to Peru

-pay for a program which covers the coast of food, housing, and volunteer activities

-and if I can raise more than my goal I want to donate the money to my project to continue the process of developing the community.

Of course, depending on the time I purchase these things, the coast of the total volunteer trip may be different…. If any of you, or anyone else you know would be interested in donating towards this cause(or purchasing tupperware), or want to hear more details(for example: the best way to donate is through cash or check; if you would like to donate money, it can be sent to me through mail).
